When rap first came out it was a way for people in the 'hood to have a voice so that the masses could hear their concerns. It was a way for a guy or girl to get his or her point across to people who generally wouldn't pay them no attention. Rappers made songs complaining about hard times or just to show you how deep their imagination was. It became super popular and then evolved into a life style called hip hop.
