Modeling: Super vs Urban PDF Print E-mail

modelsModeling is modeling? No it's not. In a world that's quick to put down black urban modeling also referred to as "glamour" or " eyecandy" modeling as not real modeling, there is a huge difference in the forms of modeling. If you ask us at GGurls we think that so call "super" modeling is some bullshit. The models are anorexic and look close to death, while the "glamour" models look like real women. So if you think being a skinny bean pole makes you a "real" model then you're on the wrong site! Just our two cents. esther baxter

2nd opinion: not all of us here feel that way. Some of the "urban" models are not real life type women. They sport ridiculous curves that only cartoon characters can get away with. It's all just a matter of opinion as I've seen some pretty "super" models and pretty "urban" models and vice versa.

Just remember the reason why... gay dudes run the fashion industry. So the closer a chick looks like a 13 year old Maculy Culken the more attractive she is to these types. They just don't treat sisters like this but all women. I could go down the list of women I would cut my right arm off to see in a James Bond flick or on regular TV. Whether it's a Bria Myles, Buffie, Elke or old skool Pam Anderson even Ice T's wife Coco. But you will see more High School Musical types in the media (no bumps or curves) like Hannah Montana becoming superstars over someone grown and sexy.

Man. People are hating hard on Urban Modeling but that's only because black women are getting attention for what they are naturally blessed with. They don't have to go to a tanning salon to get darker, they have color year around, they don't have to get butt injections butt implants or the butt grafting technique. God blessed them naturally. There are some that do get the add ons but there are for more who don't. smilies/tongue.gif

If I'm trying to sell a line of clothes to a major retailer, I want a hanger walking down the runway.
If I'm trying to sell "real" women clothes I want a picture of a woman they can identify with wearing them.
If I'm trying to sell a man a picture of a "real" woman, I'm die broke. But if I use a picture of a real or made up woman to sell a product, I'm gonna stay rich and I'm never gonna run out of models.

Im an urban model, and I think that the High fashion industry should take us urban models more seriously! Even Tyra said it herself that she appealed to woman more because of her curvy figure! More women relate to urban models than high fashion models! And if you look back at coco chanel when she was first doing runway shows, her models were under 5'6'', and not thin, but pleasently curvy....they filled out the clothes! I rather see models like Ester, CoCo, Bria, Asia and myself walking the runway for an urban fashion line, instead of rail thin girls, that aren't realistic to who buys the fashions. I rather see my body type and other women with curves, makes me want to buy more, and I can see and tell how the clothes will fit on myself! Just my 2 cents!
